Unexpected 2023 — a forum for innovation across borders
In 2023, Lund University, in collaboration with Future by Lund, created a new and unique forum called UNEXPECTED where you can take part in and be inspired by ongoing innovation and collaboration processes that also reflect on “existential sustainability” as a value foundation. On 1 June 2023, researchers, entrepreneurs, politicians, officials and entrepreneurs gathered for an international forum at the Mejeriet in Lund.

In 2022, Lund University was one of about a hundred organisations behind an application for the EU's huge innovation initiative KIC (Knowledge and Innovation Communities) in the cultural and creative industries (KKN). Lund University wanted to take the work further by creating a forum and meeting place to make visible and discuss how and in what way to drive and develop innovation areas and projects where creative and cultural competences are at the core.
The 200 participants at the UNEXPECTED forum at Mejeriet in Lund did not hesitate to explore archaeology & tech, human rights, fashion, biosphere areas and digital concerts from an existential sustainability perspective.
Initiated by Lund University and Future by Lund, UNEXPECTED is a new format to inspire and encourage cross-innovation in cultural and creative sectors and industries.
