LOSC/Flow, sub-project: Innovation projects measure traffic
How to use sensors to measure traffic? Partners within Future by Lund have tried this in several innovation projects in recent years. In a project in Södra Sandby, we are testing combining data from AFRYS image sensors, Trivector's app TravelVu and Acconeer's radar sensor with, for example, weather data from SMHI. In this way, we hope to create a more comprehensive and at the same time more cost-effective factual basis for traffic planners. Watch the video that shows how we work in the test project!
In Södra Sandby, Future by Lund has conducted shorter tests of a few different sensors. Image sensors from AFRY has been deployed with a focus on some of the roads used by those who cycle via Hardebergaspåret between Södra Sandby and Lund and combined with Trivectores app TravelVu and The Acconeers radar sensors. The data is then collected on an integration platform where analyses can be performed. In this way, one can see where cyclists like to ride, but one could also understand how cycling is distributed over the day and how much weather and wind influence the choice to ride. It could also be possible to get the sensors to report in a more immediate way, so that it is possible to quickly see whether problems have arisen or whether actions taken are having the right effect. Everything is part of an innovation project, where we examine the usefulness of new technologies. The projects hope, for example, to provide clues to where improvements could be made and how to get more people to choose sustainable transport.

Accessibility adaptation: The film shows images of sensors, bike paths and cyclists in various places in Lund Municipality, especially in Södra Sandby. In addition, the data created by an image sensors is displayed, in which Artificial Intelligence replaces the vehicles of reality with symbols of cyclists, pedestrians and cars. Below is a subtitled film with speaker voice.
