Textile & Fashion 2030: Project on sustainable and circular textiles

‍ The Swedish government wants to develop the textile and fashion sector in terms of sustainability and the circular economy. Through the platform Textile & Fashion 2030, it is hoped to create the conditions for putting Sweden at the forefront of working towards the goals set out in Agenda 2030. One hope is to strengthen the forces of good that already exist.

The five-year mission of Textile & Fashion 2030, the national platform for sustainable fashion and sustainable textiles, is powered by Smart Textiles which is part of Science Park Borås at the University of Borås.

The work on the platform aims to promote collaboration, cooperation and efforts for an environmentally sustainable value chain in the textile sector. The idea is also to highlight research and development and ensure that the research results are useful in different activities. The work will also include both sustainable business models and efforts to strengthen SMEs in the area. An important task is also to unite industry players and create a community that works to reduce environmental impacts at national and international levels.

Textile & Fashion works concretely, among other things, through a series of seminars and workshops to inspire the industry. The work began with a workshop and discussion of the challenges that exist for the textile and fashion industry to achieve the goals of Agenda 2030 within various themes.

Textile & Fashion also offers skills development, activities and tools that measure the progress of companies' sustainability efforts to achieve desirable results and to meet the consumer of the future.
