E.ON: The ectogrid™ energy solution at Medicon Village

E.ON has the energy innovation ectogrid™ and Medicon Village has properties suitable for the energy system. That's why the world's first ectogrid™ is located in Lund and Medicon Village became E.ON's global innovation and demonstration platform for the ectogrid™ system. Once they met within Future by Lund and discovered the possibility of collaboration.

In 2017, Medicon Village signed an agreement with E.ON for ectogrid™ and in 2019 Medicon Village became the first in the world to install the system. This happened after Medicon Village and E.ON, among others, had worked together in the Future Living project carried out within Future by Lund.

The system has subsequently been installed in more and more properties on the Medicon Village area and since its inception, the system has undergone continuous refinement and has brought about a notable reduction in the supply of energy to Medicon Village while significantly reducing CO2 emissions.

“The system works by harnessing excess cold and heat from one building to regulate the temperature of another, facilitating the sharing and balancing of energy not only within the Medicon Village area, but also to 300 adjacent apartments,” Medicon Village writes on its website.

‍ At the COP28 climate conference in Dubai, E.ON ectogrid™ won the Energy Transition Changemakers award.

At Medicon Village there is also an ectogrid showroom.
