During September and October, Future by Lund will conduct a survey on the Lund Innovation District to gain insight into the opinions of those who live, work, study, research or are visitors to the area. The survey is an opportunity for all interested parties to participate and influence Lund's future innovation district. The answers will be analyzed using AI and are the basis for further development of the field.

Lund is a city and place with a strong tradition of research, innovation, technology and entrepreneurship and with an atmosphere that attracts talents and companies from all over the world. In order to continue developing this dynamic environment and strengthen the capacity for collaborations and partnerships in ecosystems, Future by Lund has been commissioned to catalyze the work with the Lund Innovation District. (Here you can read more about what an innovation district is) The Lund Innovation District initiative aims to provide opportunities for better collaboration between existing innovation activities, companies, organisations, universities and cities.

Since an innovation district is shaped by everyone present in the area, a survey is now being conducted with a questionnaire. To make the most of the answers, the company will Parlametrics method based on AI technology to be used to make an analysis.

Parlametric is a lund-based company that, with a combination of proprietary AI technology and the expertise of human analysts, transforms qualitative data into directly usable statistics. The company's method is based on an innovation from the Centre for Language and Literature at Lund University, and is used, among other things, in the analysis of open free text responses.

- The use of qualitative methods and open-ended questions is nothing new, but the challenge has always been to process the free text answers in an accurate and meaningful way. That's where Parlametry's method comes in. It enables insights that are both information-rich and adapted to the context,” explains Rebecka Komét, Parlametric.

The work is being done to lay a foundation for the work on further development of the innovation district.

- It's about trying to understand things that are not seen in ordinary statistics, says Charlotte Lorentz-Hjorth, CEO at Future by Lund. We want to find out how people see the place Lund, its capacity for innovation and what opportunity it gives individuals to work with innovation. The great thing about Parlametrics way of doing surveys is that they have a way of turning qualitative responses into quantitative ones. We see this as a way to create subtle data to develop innovation opportunities.

The survey is open to anyone who wants to participate and have opinions about the Lund Innovation District, and the hope is to receive between one thousand and two thousand responses.

- Sometimes we talk about the innovation ecosystem as a machine with businesses that have a certain number of employees and a certain turnover, says Peter Kisch, operations manager at Future by Lund. In the end, it is individuals who make a difference. With this survey we get a personal comment from those who stay in the environment and can see if they think that Lund gives them the right conditions to be creative and creative. Perhaps we can see what is needed to increase their capabilities on an individual basis. It is difficult to do so through ordinary surveys, but here we can make statistics of their open answers.

How to participate in the survey?

- Among other things, we disseminate links to the survey in Future by Lund and our members' social media, says Tilde Svensson, Future by Lund. In addition, the survey will be accessible through a QR code, including in some restaurants and cafes in the area.

The survey will be carried out during September and October and when the analysis is completed, we will of course tell you more about this here on the website.
